Kitten Care Your kitten has been feed a variety of foods. We start kittens off with a kitten goop which is kitten milk & baby porridge to get used to solids. We then add soft mousse tinned Royal Canin Mother & baby. Once eating that they are offered raw meat. Chicken, beef, mutton and roo meat. They are given tinned & sachet commercial foods as well as grated cheese. We alternate between raw meals & tinned meals. Your kitten will need milk for growing bones & teeth. Never offer cows milk as this will upset their tummies. Whiskers Plus or Pets Own Milk from the supermarket. Dry biscuits are on offer 24 hours a day. Use a good quality biscuit and not the ones with artificial colour & flavour. We feed Royal Canin (Mother & Baby, kitten & Adult) available from Pet Shops & Vets and on line. Kittens need four small wet meals per day or 2 larger meals per day. An adult needs two. Breakfast & dinner. Your kitten is vaccinated against Feline Enteritis and Cat Flu at 8 weeks of age and just over 11 weeks of age. You can give a third vaccine a month after the second vaccine if you prefer. You will need to booster vaccine at 12 months of age and then every year for life. Your kitten was wormed at 6, 8 and 11 weeks of age and will need to be wormed every 3 months for the first year & then 6 monthly after. Your kitten will be desexed before arriving at your home as well as micro-chipped. We now use, Allpet PooWee kitty litter and find this excellent for clumping. I highly recommend a piece or two of cat furniture and scratching posts. Kittens and cats love to play and sleep on them & it will save your furniture from claws. Claws can be clipped every 4 weeks with nail clipper. Only clip up to the live part. Kittens will go through many stages of teething and like to bite & chew. I recommend cardboard boxes with holes cut in them. The kittens will chew on the boxes and play for hours. Make sure there is never any string or threads lying about as kittens will eat them and can get them stuck & need Veterinary assistance to get removed. British have a double coat and need to be brushed at least once a week. I brush my cats every day with a Slicker brush (bent metal teeth) and they love it. British make excellent indoor cats and are more than happy to stay close by. An outside cat enclosure is an asset to keep your feline friend safe from cars, attacks, being stolen & disease. I wish you years of happiness together.
